I found that only 75% of the lead’s length in lead pencil
is utilized and the rest of 25% becomes wasted.
Because of poor lead holding mechanism in lead pencil
that need length of lead to keep the lead steady.
Normally, each lead has 6 cm length so 1.5 cm gets wasted.
What's 1.5 cm lead can do? Certainly, it can be used to write
and draw but how long it can do?
This is the sample that I've test from filling black
into 21x12.5cm paper.
This is sort of common test but it show you some space
that 1.5 cm lead can do, then imagine of a ton of lead.
At the beginning, I've decide to design lead pencil that
reduce wasted of lead. But this idea may be done by
several groups such as UMO. Then I think that I may
design graphic that communicate the wasted of lead
or something. I don't sure that it's a nice idea so I'll
present it in this week's class.
